The 2017 NFL regular season begins in 238 days at the home field of the winner of Super Bowl LI. Eight teams still battle for the right to play in Houston on Feb. 5. The other 24 teams are in preparation for 2017. The New York Giants entered their offseason after being eliminated by the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Game.

The NFL Draft will be held Apr 27-29 in Philadelphia with the Giants picking 23rd overall. This is a far cry from the top-10 positioning they’ve had the last two seasons. Scouting for the next crop of NFL players has already started. The team sent scouts to the College Gridiron Showcase at Pennington Field in Bedford, TX.

The College Gridiron Showcase is a five-day showcase and symposium for college seniors from all college football divisions. The players are selected by a panel of experts. They practice in 1 on 1s, team drills, and receive life/professional coaching and mentoring. Scouts, executives, as well as current and former players from the NFL and CFL are invited to observe and interview prospects.

The Giants haven’t made their draft strategy public yet. They are in need of help in a variety of positions.

The most pressing immediate need is along the offensive line. They can also use a tight end who is adept in blocking as well as passing catching. The Giants could also look into finding a large-bodied wide receiver for red zone situations. The linebacking corps can use an upgrade as well.
