Flyers sign Hartnell to 6-year extension

The Philadelphia Flyers announced on Monday they have signed left wing Scott Hartnell to a multi-year contract extension, and CSN reported the deal is for six years and is worth a total of $28.5 million.

The new contract takes affect with the 2013-14 season, and it runs through the 2018-19 season.

He is entering the final year of a six-year deal he signed after being acquired by the Flyers in June 2007.

Hartnell, 30, had a career-best 37 goals, including 16 power-play goals, and 30 assists last season. He played in all 82 games and was named to play in the All-Star Game.

In six seasons with the Flyers, Hartnell has 129 goals and 263 points.
