Eagles reach five-year deal with Jason Peters

The Philadelphia Eagles have reached a four-year contract extension with five-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jason Peters.

It's an important move for the Eagles to solidify their line on a long-term basis.

It wasn't cheap, too.

Peters' deal is worth $41.3 million, including $19.55 million guaranteed in new money, according to agent Vincent Taylor. The full worth of the deal is $51.3 million.

"Jason is everything you look for in a left tackle," Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said in a statement. "The unique blend of size, speed and athleticism that Jason possesses is something that everyone wants in an offensive lineman. However, what really makes him unique is his desire to improve day in and day out despite the fact that he's played at an elite level for so many years. We are truly rewarding Jason's excellence, as he's a guy who has made six Pro Bowl appearances and has been selected an All-Pro five times. We're excited to be able to keep him in Philadelphia for years to come."
