Dodgers activate Greinke

The Los Angeles Dodgers activated pitcher Zack Greinke from the disabled list, and he is scheduled to start Wednesday night's game against the Washington Nationals, the Los Angeles Times reported.

To make room on the roster, pitcher Josh Beckett was placed on the disabled list with a strained right groin muscle.

Greinke will make his third start of the season on Wednesday after being sidelined since fracturing his left collarbone during a brawl with Padres outfielder Carlos Quentin on April 11.

Greinke, 29, made only one rehab start and did not pitch particularly well in that game. But the Dodgers did not want to wait any longer.

Greinke who is 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA this season, signed a six-year, $147 million free agent contract with Los Angeles this winter.
