The winter storm currently hitting the northeastern part of the U.S. has caused Tuesday’s game between the New Jersey Devils and Winnipeg Jets to be postponed.

The two teams have rescheduled their meeting at Prudential Center for March 28. Fans holding tickets can reuse them for the new date.

Winnipeg arrived in town Monday night following their 5-4 overtime loss in Nashville. Sometimes a game will go off despite a storm in the area if the visiting team has arrived. But in this case, with potentially up to two feet of snow along with freezing rain falling, it was best for the teams, players and employees to stay home today.

This is the third game that’s been postponed this season. A Florida-Tampa preseason meeting in October was called off due to Hurricane Matthew. In December, a compressor in PNC Arena’s ice making machine blew out, forcing Carolina and Detroit to reschedule for March 27.

Fortunately for the Jets they don’t have to worry about getting out of the Northeast any time soon. They can stay where they are and get ready for their Thursday game at the New York Islanders in Brooklyn.
