Detroit 76, Loyola-Chicago 75

Junior Jason Calliste had a miserable shooting night, but his basket with less than a second left gave host Detroit a 76-75 victory over Loyola-Chicago in Horizon League play Tuesday night.

The Ramblers (14-15, 4-11) had just taken a 75-74 lead on Kiki White's driving layup around Nick Minnerath with 9.2 seconds left.

After a timeout, the Titans (19-10, 11-4) cleared out the court and let Calliste take it in for the deciding basket with 0.3 on the clock. It was only the second field goal in 10 attempts for Calliste, who finished with seven points -- or half his 14.1 average.

The play spoiled what otherwise was a good offensive night for the Ramblers. They shot 53.1 percent from the floor (26 of 49) and made 9 of 17 3-point attempts.

They also had five players in double figures topped by Jordan Hicks' 20 points. Christian Thomas added 15 and White, a freshman, ended with career highs in points with 13 and assists with seven.

Devon Turk had 12 and Matt O'Leary 11 as the Ramblers once again were without senior Ben Averkamp, who has missed the last six games with a concussion. Guard Culley Payne also is out with a hand injury.

Ray McCallum led Detroit with 22 points and Minnerath added 21.
