Cubs owner awkwardly busts a move during NL Central celebration
Cubs owner Tom Ricketts has spearheaded a revolution in Chicago. Since taking over the team in 2009, he’s helped rebuild the franchise from the ground up, resulting in a perennial contender that’s well positioned to end its mind-boggling World Series drought.
On Thursday, the Cubs took their first big step toward achieving that goal this season when they clinched the NL Central thanks to a Cardinals late night loss in San Francisco. Unfortunately, they’d missed their opportunity to celebrate earlier that evening, but they made up for it with an epic celebration on Friday after defeating the Brewers 5-4 on Miguel Montero’s walk-off home run in the 10th inning.

And who was right in the middle of that celebration cutting a rug in the team’s brand new, state-of-the-art clubhouse? That would be Tom Ricketts.

That probably wasn’t intended for broadcast on television. But who among Cubs fans is going to judge based on the team’s success and the hope he’s helped bring to Chicago?
By all means, Tom, bust a move. Enjoy and embrace the moment, because as we’re constantly reminded in baseball, moments like these are never guaranteed. Even the teams seemingly best set up for success have fallen short, so it should always be cherished.
Speaking of which, the Cubs players seemed to have no trouble embracing the moment . Here’s a look at some great shots from the celebration that ended up spilling back on to the field.

Rest assured, once the celebration ends, the focus will return. Manager Joe Maddon wouldn’t have it any other way. But it’s also clear the players realize the challenge that faces them in October and the history they would create by bringing home a World Series championship. This Cubs team is ready. We just hope we’re ready for what they have in store should they win it all.
