A's close to deal for Brewers' Kottaras

The Oakland Athletics are close to making a trade for Milwaukee Brewers catcher George Kottaras, Fox Sports reported Saturday.

Kottaras, 29, was designated for assignment after starting catcher Jonathan Lucroy was activated from the disabled list on Thursday. Kottaras is hitting .209 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 86 at-bats with a .409 on-base percentage this season.

It is not known what the A's would give up in return or what they A's would do with catchers Kurt Suzuki and Derek Norris if the trade happens.
