He is guaranteed $4 million from the Eagles regardless of his next team or contract.

The 11-year veteran was regarded as one of the league's top cornerbacks while playing for the Raiders. Asomugha was also a first-team All-Pro in 2010 after Ryan left. Additionally, he was selected to three straight Pro Bowls from 2008-10.

The Saints' defensive backfield currently includes recently-signed Keenan Lewis and 2012 starters Patrick Robinson and Jabari Greer.

The Times-Picayune reported that if Asomugha signs, the Saints may release Robinson or Greer.

New Orleans gave up a league-record 7,042 yards (440.1 per game) last season.
