Cardinals' McClellan (shoulder) out for season
Cardinals' right-handed pitcher Kyle McClellan will miss the rest of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery Tuesday.
McClellan, on the disabled list since May with a right elbow strain, required surgery after he tore the labrum in his right shoulder during a throwing session.
A starter to begin the 2011 season, McClellan appeared in 43 games, including 26 out of the bullpen last season.
He was 0-1 with a 5.30 ERA in 16 relief appearances in 2012.
