Browns aren't happy Titans player is gloating about hit that injured their teammate

It’s rare that someone brags about injuring another player in the NFL, especially from an illegal hit.

That’s why the Cleveland Browns are not happy with Tennessee Titans running back Antonio Andrews.

Andrews hit Browns safety Jordan Poyer in Sunday’s game on a punt return. It was an illegal hit – flagged 15 yards for a blindside block. Poyer suffered a lacerated kidney and was put on injured reserve.

It doesn’t seem like anything to gloat about, but Andrews put the video of the hit on his Instagram page, which is private. The post had the caption “Relentless,” according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. And he didn’t seem too sympathetic on Twitter.

“It’s not gloating” seems to be wholly inaccurate, and even in the violent world of football the whole thing seems out of place. Not many players take public delight in injuring another player, and it seems especially strange and heartless to brag after putting a player in the hospital on an illegal blindside hit.

Browns receiver Terrelle Pryor was one of many players who weren’t happy with Andrews. Pryor said he was angered by the post and called it “bullcrap.”

“If you’re a special teams guy and you’re popping that stuff on there like you’re some type of superhero just because you’re hitting a guy blindside and you think that’s cool, that’s where the problem comes in,” Pryor said in a video posted by Cleveland.com. “I think he should stay to his special teams and what he does and don’t post stuff when a man is not looking taking a hit like that.”

Browns coach Hue Jackson said Andrews crossed a line.

“That’s one of our players. There’s a code among players in the National Football League,” Jackson said, according to the Plain Dealer. “That young man suffered a serious injury. So, I don’t think that’s something to celebrate. I would hope that he reaches out to Jordan and maybe even explain why it even went that far.”

It doesn’t seem like that apology is coming. It’s a really bad look for Andrews.
