Breaking down Antonio Brown's restructured deal
Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown's extension saves the franchise close to $4 million in cap space for the 2014 season.
Here's a look at the contract's details:
In 2014, Brown will be paid a base salary of $730,000, with most of his slated earnings converted into a signing bonus. He'll carry a cap figure of $4.517 million for the season. Previously, Brown had an $8.47 million figure for the season before the restructured deal.
In 2015, his base salary will be $6 million with a cap figure of $9.788 million. This is actually an increase in the previous 2015 cap figure on his old deal of $8.47 million.
In 2016, Brown will earn a base salary of $8.25 million with a cap figure just over $12 million. This is about a $2 million increase cap wise for this season.
In 2017, he's slated to earn an $8.71 million base salary with a $10.798 million cap number.
