Bennie Logan and Trey Burton should be only Philadelphia Eagles re-signed

Of the eight players able to hit free agency this offseason, only a couple of those eight Philadelphia Eagles will have some potential for a return. Given that Philadelphia will need to make some roster turnover occur, even the solid role player may not be able to return. With salary cap space low, look for the Eagles to be very selective when talking to these eight players.

One note though before we get started. Despite being on many lists as he is out of contract, Jaylen Watkins is an exclusive rights player at the moment. Unable to hit free agency, Watkins is an almost certainty to be back in the Eagles secondary next season.

Moving on though, the two players on the potential free agent list that I feel Philly should re-sign are Bennie Logan and Trey Burton. Both bring quite a bit to this team in terms of action both on and off the field. While Logan and Burton are not the best at their respective positions, they are above average and should provide good value compared to the contracts they would receive.

Spending the last four seasons with the Eagles, Bennie Logan did have a down year with Philly last season. Recording the least amount of tackles of his career, Logan also only appeared in 13-games last season. However, his 2.5-sacks this past season were the most of his career. Despite being an average player, Logan’s past success does give me some hope that he can rebound next season.

As far as Trey Burton goes, what more could we want from the man. Burton is an extremely productive special team player and arguably Carson Wentz favorite offensive target. Given that he has little name recognition outside of Philadelphia and Gainesville — where he went to college — Burton should be relatively cheap to retain.

As for the other players on the Philadelphia Eagles free agent list, Nolan Carroll is a player that’s almost certainly on his way out. While he did play quite a bit for the Eagles this season, he was pretty poor at times. Given the depth of cornerbacks in this years draft, Carroll will be easily replaced with a first or second round draft pick.

Also joining Carroll is leaving Philly will be Stefen Wisniewski, Stephen Tulloch, Bryan Braman, Najee Goode, and Kenjon Barner.
