Bears QB Cutler ruled out vs. Rams

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was ruled out of next Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams because he continues recovering from a high ankle sprain.

Cutler missed Sunday's overtime win over the Baltimore Ravens. He was seen in the locker room after the game wearing a hard cast on his left leg. He was injured the week before that against the Detroit Lions.

Coach Marc Trestman said Monday that Cutler is week-to-week but would not play against the Rams.

"I would rule Jay out for Sunday," he said.

Backup Josh McCown filled in for Cutler and threw for 216 yards with a touchdown and had a 92.9 passer rating in the win.

"Josh is a talented player, and he plays within himself," Trestman said. "He knows what his strengths are, and plays to his strengths. He's detail-oriented, just like Jay is."
