BASEBALL RECAP: N.C. State 9, Vanderbilt 7

RALEIGH, N.C. - After trailing for six of the first seven innings, it was Tarran Senay's day, and North Carolina State lived to tell about it.

Senay hit the go-ahead two-run single in the top of the ninth and scored a run to complete the rally, as N.C. State (43-18) outscored Vanderbilt 6-0 in the final two innings and claimed the Raleigh Regional title.

Senay blasted a three-run pinch-hit home run in the top of the eighth to draw the No. 1-seeded Wolfpack within a run, 7-6.

Vanderbilt (35-28) fell behind 3-0 but erupted for five runs in the bottom of the third and added another in the sixth to surge ahead 7-3. The big blow by Vandy was a two-out, two-run double from freshman Connor Castellano, a .250 hitter with only five extra-base hits all season.

The Commodores won Saturday's game over N.C. State, 9-8, scoring eight times in the final three innings.

The Wolfpack advance to take on Florida (45-18), which went 3-0 to claim the Gainesville regional.
