Every week of the NFL season feels like an eternity waiting from one week to the next for the Atlanta Falcons to be on the field again. This week it is only Wednesday and the Falcons have delivered breaking news that Sunday can’t get here soon enough.

In the upcoming home game against the San Diego Chargers, the Falcons will wear throwback uniforms from 1966. These aren’t your typical old jerseys reminiscent of the Packers or Steelers, the 1966 replica jersey is awesome.

For the first time in a long while, the Atlanta Falcons will don black jerseys in a football game. Not only do the jerseys look good, but the matching helmet both showcase the vintage Falcons logo.

The pants will be white with a bold red stripe down either side outlined in black. Atlanta will wear tri-colored socks to complete the uniform. You can view a slide show of the uniform with a few select Falcons here.

Celebrating the 50-year anniversary of an inaugural 1966 team that finished their first season in the NFL with a 3-11 record. The Falcons lost their first nine regular season games before finishing 3-2 in the final five weeks of the season. Playing each of the league’s 14 other teams once during the season, Atlanta earned victories over the New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings, and St. Louis Cardinals.
