Atletico puts price on Radamel Falcao

Atletico Madrid general manager Miguel Angel Gil Marin placed a price on Radamel Falcao on Tuesday, telling a Spanish radio station that the team can't afford him unless they move into the Champions League.

"Falcao's €60 million ($50.7 million) would solve a lot of our economic problems," Gil Marin told said radio station COPE, though he insisted that Falcao will finish the season Madrid. "With security (he will). Him and all the players the coach wants will stay."

But, "if Atletico doesn't get into Champions and can't pay what Falcao is asking, I don't think that Madrid can cover it."

The soccer club's financial woes mirrors those in Spain. Atletico owes about $441 million to Spanish tax authorities. Falcao has been rumored to be heading to Real Madrid and Chelsea. He originally signed for €40 million ($50.7 million) from Porto in the summer of 2011.
