OAKLAND, Calif. -- Brandon Moss hit his second walkoff home run of the season, and right-hander Jarrod Parker pitched the first complete game of his career as the Oakland A's beat the Seattle Mariners 2-1 on Monday night at O.co Coliseum.
With one out in the bottom of the ninth, Moss sent Carter Capps' 2-1 pitch over the center-fielder fence. It was Moss fourth career walk-off homer and sixth walk-off hit.
Parker won his seventh straight game. Parker hasn't lost since May 22 at Texas, nearly three months ago. He has a 15-start unbeaten streak, the second-longest by an A's pitcher in the past 39 years and the longest since Dan Haren's 16-start streak from April 13-July 1 in 2007.
Parker struck out eight, one off his career high, and allowed just the lone run and eight hits as the A's remained just one-half game behind first-place Texas in the A.L. West. He threw an even 100 pitches.
Mariners right-hander Aaron Harang allowed just one run on five hits over seven innings but had his third straight no-decision, leaving with the game tied 1-1. He struck out three, and walked one and threw 97 pitches.
After spotting the A's a 1-0 lead in the fourth, the Mariners pulled even with a run in the seventh off Parker. Nick Franklin lined a leadoff single to right and took second when the ball bounced off the heel of Josh Reddick's glove for an error.
Kyle Seager grounded out to first baseman Brandon Moss, moving Franklin to third, and Kendrys Morales ripped an RBI single to right. Justin Smoak followed with a sharp single to right, but Reddick, who won a Gold Glove last season, gunned down the lumbering Morales at third.
Parker got himself into another jam in the eighth. Michael Saunders led off with a single and moved to third when Parker threw Dustin Ackley's sacrifice bunt into right field for an error. After a meeting on the mound with manager Bob Melvin, Parker struck out Humberto Quintero on a change-up, got Brad Miller to pop up and struck out Nick Franklin on another wicked change.
The A's broke up a scoreless tie with a run in the bottom of the fourth off Harang.
Josh Reddick grounded a leadoff single to center and advanced to second on Yoenis Cespedes' sharp single to center. Reddick tagged up and went to third on Brandon Moss' fly out to deep left, and Josh Donaldson brought him home with a fielder's choice ground ball to shortstop.
NOTES: Mariners acting manager Robby Thompson said manager Eric Wedge will be back in uniform Friday when Seattle opens a homestand against the Los Angeles Angels. "He's chomping at the bit to get back," Thompson said. "He'll slowly get back into it. We'll see how we work things out as far as that goes." Thompson has filled in since July 22 for Wedge, who is recovering from a minor stroke. ... A's CF Coco Crisp (strained left wrist) returned to the starting lineup Monday for the first time Aug. 11 at Toronto, a stretch of seven games. ... Oakland LHP Brett Anderson (right foot stress fracture/right ankle sprain) will make his second rehab start Thursday night for Class A Stockton. The A's chose that option over having Anderson pitch for Triple-A Sacramento at Colorado Springs. By pitching at Stockton, Anderson avoids a plane flight and having to pitch at high altitude. ... Mariners OF/1B Michael Morse (sore left wrist) was out of the lineup for the second straight game. "Nothing severe," Thompson said. "A couple swings, though, he's kind of grimaced and held his wrist here as of late. We'll give him another day and see where he's at tomorrow."
