Arizona Coyotes provide lasting memories for special needs team

Hockey is for everybody.

Recently the Arizona Coyotes showed that the slogan was more than a marketing ploy, or Twitter hashtag, when they invited the One Step Bobcats – a special needs hockey team in Glendale, Ariz. – to visit them at the rink.

The Coyotes surprised the Bobcats with their own custom jerseys and a chance to play with their local NHL stars. It’s a video that definitely tugs at the heartstrings, seeing the sheer of joy on the faces of the kids skating in an NHL arena.

The Bobcats are the first team of its kind in the state, so kudos to the Coyotes for reaching out. To be sure, they’ll have provided memories for a lifetime.

“They’re going to remember this forever,” says Matt Shott, the Coyotes’ director of amateur development. “That’s what we want to provide kids in hockey, is a special memory that they’ll remember for the rest of their lives and again proving that hockey is for everybody.”
