Anthony Johnson Willing to Wait for Title Shot, Would Fight if Needed at 205 or Heavyweight

Anthony Johnson’s UFC on FOX 18 first-round finish of Ryan Bader put him in the position to face the winner of champion Daniel Cormier and former titleholder Jon Jones when the two eventually fight this year.

During the UFC on FOX 18 post-fight press conference, Johnson stated that he’s willing to sit out and wait for a title shot, but he’s also willing to accept a fight beforehand.

“Yes. That’s a paycheck,” said Johnson when asked if he's willing to take a fight before getting another title shot.

“Rumble” isn't just willing to accept another fight, he's willing to step up on short notice if an opponent gets injured at light heavyweight or in the heavyweight division.

“If somebody gets hurt and they need a replacement, I’d definitely jump in if I’m healthy and able to fight,” he said. “That’s for light heavyweight and heavy.”

Before returning to the UFC in April 2014, Johnson's two previous fights with World Series of Fighting were at heavyweight. He's 2-0 competing in the highest weight class.
