Angels' Kendrick lands on DL

The Angels placed second baseman Howie Kendrick on the 15-day disabled list with a hyperextended knee, the team announced Saturday.

Kendrick suffered the injury on Monday night during a game against the Texas Rangers in a collision with teammate Collin Cowgill while chasing a pop fly in short right field. The move is retroactive to Aug. 6.

An MRI showed no structural damage in the knee and the Angels hope to have Kendrick back when he is eligible to come off the DL on Aug. 21.

The 30-year-old Kendrick is hitting .302 with 11 home runs and 47 RBIs in 108 games this season.

. The Angels called up left-handed reliever Buddy Boshers to take Kendrick's place on the roster.
