Alabama CB Smith charged

Alabama sophomore cornerback Geno Smith was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in Tuscaloosa early Sunday morning.

The Tuscaloosa News first reported the arrest.

Smith is projected to be a key defensive back for the defending champion Crimson Tide at the "Star" position after starting two games and playing in all 13 in 2012.

Alabama will be counting on several underclassmen in the secondary.

Smith was a Top 50 recruit out of Atlanta St. Pius and chose Alabama over Auburn.
