49ers corner Chris Culliver arrested for felony hit and run, weapons charges

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver was arrested today in San Jose and charged with felony hit and run and weapons charges, according to KTVU-TV.

Culliver allegedly hit a bicyclist with his car and fled the scene, police said.

When Culliver was stopped by an eyewitness, Culliver allegedly threatened the person with brass knuckles, got back into this car and fled, hitting the eyewitness' car.

Culliver was charged with reckless driving causing an injury, felony possession of brass knuckles and misdemeanor hit and run. The bicyclist was treated for minor injuries.

“The 49ers organization is aware of the recent matter involving Chris Culliver,” the 49ers said in a statement. "We will remain in contact with Chris and the local authorities as we continue to gather the facts regarding this situation. As this is an ongoing legal matter, we will reserve further comment at this time.”

Culliver, who missed last season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, made headlines at the Super Bowl two years when he said the gay players wouldn't be welcome with the 49ers.

Since then, Culliver has apologized and undergone sensitivity counseling.
