2014 Outlook: Vince Carter

There's no such thing as a designated hitter in basketball, but Vince Carter might be the closest for comparison's sake. He enjoyed a career renaissance with Dallas the past two seasons, only missing two out of 164 games while averaging 12.7 points per game on 40 percent from three. He got a new contract in Memphis this season, but his role will probably remain the same -- a bombs-away three-point shooter off the bench. Mike Miller didn't quite do enough in that role for the Grizzlies last season to be Fantasy relevant, but Carter offers a bit more. He's turned into an OK rebounder and defender, and he'll muscle his way to the free throw line every now and then. Because Memphis ranked near the bottom in three pointers, Carter should be worth a mid-to-late round pick in Rotisserie leagues and a late-round flier in points leagues.
