Mobley's physical holds up Clippers-NY trade

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Clippers completed their trade for New York Knicks forward Zach Randolph Tuesday afternoon.

The Clippers agreed on Friday to send Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas to the Knicks for Randolph and guard Mardy Collins. But the Knicks put the trade on hold Monday after raising concerns about Mobley's physical.

League executives said the Knicks’ concerns centered on Mobley’s heart, but one source says the veteran guard has played with the issue dating to the start of his career with the Houston Rockets. The source said when Mobley played for the Rockets, he signed an agreement excluding the team from any liability related to the issue.

"All I know is that if [Mobley] has anything, he’s been asymptomatic," Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said. "He’s never had any issue with us. There’s never been one time that he’s missed a practice, missed a game or from any physical of any kind has any issues so I don’t really know.

"From the standpoint of all of our guys and all of their medicals, there hasn’t been any issues for us. I’ve been told by our doctors that the things of concern is not something that we haven’t known about or had any issues with. So there shouldn’t be…hopefully there won’t be an issue.”
