Ball Don't Lie - NBA

This month's issue of Men's Journal has an interview with Suns' center Shaquille O'Neal, and as tends to be the case with most things featuring The Big Twitter, it's ridiculously funny. This particular quote, via Fanster, had me in tears while I searched the BDL archives for the Photoshop above.

Q: What would you do with a time machine?
A: Go to the cloning era, clone myself 20 times, and put myself in America as 20 different people. One Shaq would be a banker. One Shaq would be a sheriff. One Shaq would be a race car driver. One Shaq would be a prince. One Shaq would be Spanish. We'd all be here at the same time, and every once in a while I'd meet myself.

Yep. Multiplicity 2, starring Shaquille O'Neal — coming to a theater near you soon!

Anyway, the Arizona Republic has more Shaq snippets of brilliance, which I highly recommend you check out. His answer to the question about what song he listens to at least once a week was especially enlightening.

"Playing piano. I've never really had a lesson, but I buy books that teach you how to play. My problem is my fingers stick together. If I try to hit one key with my middle finger, they all move together."
Holy crap, no wonder he's 52% from the line.

Modern science should immediately make cloning Shaq circa 1998 its number one priority. First, we'll make about 400 clones of Shaq, and freeze them. Then, we'll wait until this Shaq retires, exile him ala Napoleon, then activate one of our frozen cloned Shaq's. We will never lack for witty catch phrases or nicknames again!

wyn, Shaq is not jealous of that shaggy Spanish weakling you call a center. Even if el hombre win 4x championships, be an NBA MVP, be a scoring champ, 3x finals MVP, 15x NBA all-star, (he can never be a rookie of the year), Shaq will still not be jealous of that "paella munching chewbacca" because Shaq has done those already. While your Kobe lead Lakers may or may not win a championship, when Shaq lead the Lakers you won 3x championships (two of which Kobe really sucked and choked).

He should make a shaq that goes back in time and win the 2004 finals not like that pathetic, fat, full of excuses, jealous of kobes coming of age loser that he was then and his life would be better since he wouldn't of had to move to miami and had to get divorced because other guys started enjoying cookies "cookies" if you not what i mean. When he's wife started cheating the "big excuse" he should of known that he was going downhill. But there was plenty here in LA that was getting some of cookies "cookies". Kareem will always be the best center of the lakers followed by the Man "Wilt" chamberlain. Shaq, get over yourself since you will not be able to get the "white dwarfs" into the finals!! HAHA

This guy got absolutely schooled by the dream and sweep by Houston while he was with Miami. Then he cried a river of tears for a one on one rematch with the dream.Only when the dream retired did anybody know or care. The Portland jail blazers took him a Koby to seven games...and they were lucky to escape that series. The guy ......

Oh...I forgot...did you see him hit Alvin Robertson? It's a good thing there were refs, because AR would have tore off his head and s--t down his throat if the ref didn't pull AR off him. You should have seen the look on Shaqs face when AR was comin. Alvin Robertson was a STUD and Shaq found out!

shaq should be cloned.a million times.hes amazing unlike any other big guys.i mean that size?with that agility, strength.he won four championships.giving kobe and d-wade their rookie years with rings.common guys stop comparing.give koby or pau shaqs size.maybe theyll be just like a pig on a sty waiting for some1 to feed them.
he's [profane]in exceptional.it is normal for some1 to decline on shaqs age now & give others a chance to win a C.
But the stats hes putting right now on his age?hes still bad..a treat & a headache to some other teams.

Everyone has to be honest right now when I say this, "This Season, Shaq has been a beast!!!!" This dude is looking like he did even b4 he went to the Fakers (Lakers).... He has always been on of my favorite players in the league. When Terry Porter was name coach of the Suns, I knew that he would know how to play Shag. D'Antoni was a run up and down the court team. Thats why in the play-off game 1 and 2 would be fastpaced games but the rest of the series would be slow. They would tire themselves out. A'Mare needs to be traded cause what he dont understand is One player (him) cant win a Team Championship. Steve Nash needs to take more control and not be trying to play D'Antoni game-style but play as your current coach plays... Pound it down low. You got A'Mare, when he wants to play and "The Most Consistent Big Man in NBA History" as Shaq would say, lol... What people dont know is, The Suns have a chance at a ring, but only if they want it... GO SUNS... DIE-HARD SUNS FAN

    You haters!
I am always amazed at how much haters there are in these forums, but recently it just seems as if though people just don't know their basketball well enough to even comment on any post whatsoever!!!!!
My goodness guys, you embarrass the rest of us who follow the game because of the "love" not because
you want to be a "fanboy bandwagon jumper i need a sport to feel manly because my girl would leave me in a minute if i don't" kinda guy.
Be real! Shaquille gave us more than a decade worth or "real" basketball and we owe the guy his due respect!
he is a champion, he is an MVP, he is an all star, he is a gold medal winner, he is a rookie of the year, and he is a finals MVP as well three times over! He is simply the last real center we will ever see for a very long time.
Does hating on him make you feel any better than him?.....when we are all 80 yrs old, we still would never even accomplish a quarter of the stuff he has in just 15 years.....somebody give me one center he never railed one down on?...give me one!!!!!..Shaq sent them ALL running! he got more posters than 13 year old Brittney Spear fan! ...Shaq was so dominating and so powerful, he made 7foot 250lb grown professional athletes take frequent naps on the hardwood after he railed one down on them so hard.
I cannot begin to tell you how retarded you all sound making comments about his dominance or his character...he was the most dominating force the NBA has ever witnessed, DEAL WITH IT! he is good for the league, he was the biggest showman the league has ever known and one of the most giving too.
Sure he never put up Wilt type stats but Wilt is Wilt....Nuff said!....he deserves at least some kind of respect, dont rag on the guy like your better than him, because at his worse hes even better than you, cause your sitting at home watching the game, and hes on the hardwood playing the game.

Nelly, agreed. Shaq was a stud, and he was and is still a great personality for the league and its haters. Well in haters. Say this stuff to Shaq's face instead of on the anonymity of the internet. See where that gets you. Likely no where since Shaq would probably laugh you off. Keep hating, keep strong, and buy a baby seal. Maybe clubbing it will help you deal with your pain.
