Ball Don't Lie - NBA

I'm a die-hard NBA'er, but I'll admit, March Madness grabbed a hold of me this weekend and wouldn't let go. From Stephen Curry's 40-point explosion against Gonzaga on Friday to ... well, Stephen Curry's 30-point explosion against Georgetown yesterday, I was hooked. (Dell, your son has no conscious conscience. He truly can do all things!)

So, to celebrate the L's next wave of stars, I present a few of the all-time greats' draft day moments. You know, from back when they were the baby-faced assassins giving awkward interviews in tacky hats. Here's one of my favorites: 'Scott' Pippen going No. 5 to the Sonics.

And there are lots more from where that came from. YouTube pioneer 'thekingofpimpin' has Jordan in '84, Duncan in '97, a smiley Steve Nash in '96 and many others. So, grab a second cup of coffee, follow the links and say goodbye to that dreadful Monday morning.

I like the facial expression of Pippen, he doesn't look too excited to be drafted by Seattle. Looking back, I'm sure he's glad his career ended up in Chicago.

The class Pippen displays in that clip ... for a young man of his age ... speaks volumes.

yes, look up the stats, David Robinson back in 89'. no finals but he did contribute to the biggest turn around from one season to the next as a rookie.

hahaha, good one, edt... besides, the issue is about draft day moments - where do the others go off talking about performances and such? self-serving posts, if you ask me... stick to the topic at hand, no one's asking about these draftees' performances after draft day. tsk, tsk...

in the year 88, rodman seemed to be a very good prospect, averaging over 11 points and 8 rebounds as a second year pro and he was recognized as a hard worker. so, the experts were right comparing pippen to rodman. that rodman was going to change his attitude towards basketball in 89 and later on turning into a defensive minded player couldn't be foreseen at that time. we are in 1988 at the time of pippen's drafting!
anyways rodman was one of the best defenders of all time and is among the most entertaining basketball players. the fact that he played later on with mj and pippen makes the story even nicer. the only downside of his commitment at the chicago bulls is that he and his teammates won the title against utah jazz. :-(( if it were against some other hyped team i would be more happy.
