Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Ball Don't Lie's Two-on-Two All-Star Tournament continues ... (No idea what I'm talking about? Click here.) Note: First-round match-ups were determined based on the teams' conference records as of Feb. 5 ...

Hide the women and children (and Joe Buck), this second '08 Playoffs re-match could get ugly in a hurry: Rashard Lewis and Dwight Howard vs. Jose Calderon and Chris Bosh. Real ugly. Popeye ugly. Who you got?

Once again, a quick refresher of the hypothetical rules: half-court, offense calls the fouls, "winners out" to eleven (by ones and twos, natch), and you've got to win by two. Also, no jeans allowed.

And if you're in the creative mood, leave us a short description of how you think this battle would unfold. Who jumps out to the early lead? Who nails the game winner? We'll include the best mini write-ups in the next round.

Voting will remain open until late Sunday night.

POLLS CLOSED / WINNER: Lewis and Howard — 76% (5,335 votes)

What? why it was Bosh and Calderon but Orlando put up Lewis and Howard, I just think it was bias, they just want orlando win. Why not put up Jermain O'Neal and Bosh, or Bosh and Andrea?
because it should be at least match up at size, Bosh and Howard can be match, but how can a 6-2 Calderon play with 6-10 Lewis?
By the way, NBA will never play 2 on 2.

Terrible argument by 1st. Has to be Calderon, O'neal is not good anymore. And Magic would wipe the floor I think. The first slam dunk of this tournament. ( I voted for Wizards)

Anyway, I think Toronto raptors is bad team this year. Bryan, please stop saying it is a disappointed season, you deserve what you get, I think 19-31 just tell reality. He made a bad trade and acquire O"Neal this off season, when they can get other wing player such as Gerald Wallace or Josh Howard, Houston just trade Bobby Jackson for Ron Artest, so stop saying there are no wing player available at off season.
But now I hope raptors head to the lottery, and they can trade O'Neal for Marion. I think Bosh has to go, so trade him for Amaire, because they both want out, and they are in different conference, so it won't hurt both teams. Hopefully Nash will head to North in 2010.
I think Andrea Bargnani, Stomaire, Marion, Kapono, Calderon, Nash, two lottery pick and some role player will help the raptors in better position than now.

Someone actually thinks that Skeets wants Orlando to beat Toronto so that's why he chose Calderon over Jermaine? Skeets, have your allegiances moved to Orlando?

Also, unfair matchup for toronto, though I don't think bargnani would do much better.

Everyone's underestimating Calderon. He's definitely the Raptor most deserving to be on a two-man team with Bosh. But, he can't guard Lewis, so this game would probably be a pretty quick win for Orlando Calderon could score some with his speed, Bosh could probably score a few, even against Dwight, but I don't see Toronto being able to make many stops.
    I'd say 11-7, Orlando.

How badly does this exercise make me want to play NBA Jam and use my Skiles/Nick Anderson combo or rain threes with Mark Price?
Also can we find a way to get Midway the NBA rights again, so we can get a new NBA Jam? NBA Street just wasn't the same.

Yeah, your handles aren't very good for the Magic, which is why the Raps jump out to an early lead Bosh and Jose play a nasty drive-and-dish with lots of quick-release jumpers, and it's shaping up to be a one-sider until Lewis realizes that he can just play off Calderon, daring him to shoot. With two men able to close in on Bosh, Jose has no choice but to take matters into his own hands, and it does not work out well. (It turns out that 9 3pt and 7 clutch were awfully generous, even by NBA Jam's hyperbolic standards. The rim sings with his misses, resulting in lots of short rebounds for Lewis as Howard repeatedly pushes Bosh to the ground Once the Magic have the ball Howard is able to dunk repeated on Bosh, even with no turbo left. The glass groans under the pressure, but manages to hold. Fatigue sets in for Jose, whose passes begin to bounce harmlessly off of Lewis's knees while Bosh flies to the rim empty-handed.
A sad 11-8 win for the Magic in what should have been a much more exciting contest.

Honestly, Magic get the ball, Lewis spots up at the top of the key, shoots over Calderon, if it's not 2, Dwight Howard gets the rebound and put-back. It's about that simple.

Jose can't guard anyone, Andrea and Oneil has no handles. Orlando wins easily. Toronto got the worst matchup in Round 1 for them (IF it was Parker/Bosh, however, it might be different)

You guys seriously underestimate the Raptors, I'm picking the upset win here. Sure both Lewis and Calderon can shoot like none other and Lewis towers over Calderon, but Jose is much faster. Just think: Jose shakes Lewis everytime and forces Howard to try to defend 2 on 1. Also, Dhow and Bosh match up pretty well except Bosh has more range. No defense in this game, but I think Raps have enough offensive potential to pull it off.
