Sydney Leroux, Dom Dwyer had a clever reason to wait until Valentine's Day to announce they're married

Sydney Leroux and Dom Dwyer revealed on Saturday that they got married in January, announcing the news on People.com. Leroux, a forward for the United States women's national team, and Dwyer, a striker for Sporting Kansas City, met in 2013 and began dating last year.

So why did Leroux and Dwyer wait to make the announcement on Valentine's Day? Here's why.

Yes, Leroux wears No. 2 on the USWNT and Dwyer dons No. 14 for SKC, so the date of 2/14 was fitting. The photo was posted on Leroux's Instagram account on Saturday along with pictures of her wedding ring and the happy couple kissing.

Wedding bells also recently rang for Leroux's U.S. teammate and fellow forward Alex Morgan, who got married on New Year's Eve to longtime boyfriend Servando Carrasco, now a new teammate of Dwyer's after being traded from the Houston Dynamo last month.

And now back to our regularly scheduled soccer programming.
