Swedish police revolutionize hooligan removal with hyperspeed escalators

When things started to kick off in a train station after the Stockholm derby between AIK and Djurgarden on Thursday, the local police knew they had to take action. So they flushed they angry gentlemen packed onto the escalators down to the lower level by turning up the speed to "fast enough to time travel."

Was this safe? Was it less likely to cause bodily harm than letting them fight? It's hard to say. This approach does seem like a more aggressive version of the slides proposed to be installed between St. James' Park and the metro station in Newcastle, though. So it's probably only a matter of time before the aisles in stadiums are replaced with escalators capable of sucking problem supporters into another time zone.
