Manchester City and Real Madrid begin their Champions League group of death appeal for leniency by facing each other. Leading up to the match, both Jose Mourinho and Roberto Mancini have been taking jabs at each other through the media and at Mancini's press conference he offered the Real Madrid manager a word of advice on how to handle the Sad Ronaldo situation.

In short, he suggets Mourinho send Ronaldo home for six months of the season to mimic the contentious mid-season sabbatical in Argentina that Carlos Tevez took from City last year before returning to collect his Premier League winner's medal and demand a transfer. Again.

Mancini joked:

"If he [Mourinho] wants to win La Liga again I think he should send Cristiano for six months in Portugal, and after when he comes back, they can win the Liga for a second time. [laughs] I don't know, I think that would be a different situation. But for us, last year it was -- I don't joke -- it was good because after that moment when Carlos came back in January, he did very well."

Mancini's memory of what happened seems to be rose-tinted by that Premier League title. He didn't send Tevez home like he suggests Mourinho do with Cristiano, Tevez went on his lengthy golfing retreat without the club's permission after they charged him with misconduct for refusing to warm-up at Mancini's demand during a Champions League match. And when he returned after Man City had been dumped from both the Champions League and the Europa League, he resumed playing in March and scored four goals in 10 appearances (three of which came in a 6-1 win against Norwich). He also came off before City made their epic injury-time comeback against QPR on the final day of the season.

But Mancini's response to all of that would probably be an understandable "don't care, won the league lolololololololol."
