In the 66th minute of the Spanish Segunda Division B match between Racing Santander and Compostela, referee Hugo Jose Lopez Puerta felt a twinge in his hamstring. He received treatment and got his leg wrapped, but was unable to continue. This created a problem. With no fourth official on hand the for the match, one of the linesmen had to step up and replace him, but that left them one linesman short, which would still prevent the match from carrying on.
So in their moment of desperation, an announcement was made over the stadium sound system asking if there were any national federation referees in the stands. Luckily, fourth division official Jose Leiva Zubillaga happened to be in attendance and revealed himself to save the day.
After a quick change, Zubillaga stepped in as the necessary linesman and the match continued, eventually ending in a 1-1 draw after 12 minutes of injury time.
