DTotD: Raul Meireles sent off three minutes into Europa League match

Raul Meireles must have wanted a day off because less than three minutes into Fenerbahce's Europa League match against BATE, he stupidly trippe an opponent from behind and earned a sending off. Meireles took two kicks at BATE midfielder Alexsandr Hleb's legs in the middle of the pitch, sending the former Arsenal and Barcelona man to the ground. The referee then pulled out a red card as Meireles looked confused by what was happening.

Meireles then walked off the pitch, holding his head in his hands. Though that might've been because he finally just realized that his haircut is ridiculous.

Despite having the play almost the entire match with 10 men, Fenerbahce still managed to hold BATE to a 0-0 first-leg draw.

This has been the Dirty Tackle of the Day: a chronicling of unfortunate events.
