DTotD: Crewe goalkeeper smashes into goalpost trying to prevent embarrassing goal

League One side Crewe Alexandra had a night to forget on Tuesday when they faced eighth-tier minnows Northwich Victoria in the Cheshire Senior Cup.

The Alex ended up losing 2-0 in a shootout (yes, 2-0 in a shootout!) after all three of their penalty takers failed to find the net. It's the third time in three years that they have been knocked out of the competition by the team who play five divisions below them.

Adding to this cacophony of fail was Crewe's keeper Alan Martin, who blasted a punt straight into the backside of an opposing player, forcing him to dash back to his goal to prevent an embarrassing deflected opener.

Martin recovered successfully, but slid and smashed his back into the post with enough force to shake the goal frame.

It probably hurt quite a lot, but he should count himself lucky that he didn't "Phil Babb" himself...
