Minnesota cheerleader arrested for prostituting 16-year-old teammate
Minnesota authorities charged an 18-year-old Minnetonka (Minn.) Hopkins High senior cheerleader with felony sex trafficking and promoting prostitution of a 16-year-old teammate this past March, according to a Minneapolis Star Tribune report.
Montia Marie Parker allegedly contacted the 16-year-old special education student through Facebook and text messages, created an internet ad for the girl and drove her to the homes of multiple mail sexual suitors.
When the younger student expressed a desire to earn some money in March, Parker created a Backpage.com profile using pictures supplied by the girl and her own cell phone number as the point of contact, the report said.
Parker then drove the girl to a man's home, where she performed oral sex in exchange for $60, which Parker took and deposited into her bank account, authorities told the Star-Tribune.
The following day, Parker called the high school pretending to be the sophomore's mother, excused her from school and drove her to another man's home, according to the report. The younger girl refused to have sex with the man, offering oral sex instead, but the man declined.
"I didn't drive up here for nothing," Parker told the girl, according to a complaint obtained by the Star-Tribune, "and eventually you will need to have sex."
Upon noticing a change in her daughter's mood and learning of the absences from school, the girl's mother read text message exchanges between the two girls on her daughter's cellphone and immediately contacted authorities, the report said.
Parker has been released on $50,000 bail since her arrest in late May. A few days before classes are scheduled to end for the school year on Thursday, Hopkins High authorities told the Star-Tribune the senior student has been expelled.
Over the past week, Minneapolis Police Department Lt. Kim Lund reported a spike in cases involving Backpage.com but admitted the alleged details of this case are unique.
