Vernon Davis' Olympic flower-throwing mishap

Vernon Davis' Olympic flower-throwing mishap

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis is a two-time Pro Bowler. And in Sochi, he demonstrated why he is on the receiving end and not a quarterback.

Following Team USA's Maia and Alex Shibutani's free dance of the ice dancing figure skating finals at the Iceberg Skating Palace on Monday night, Davis attempted to show his appreciation by throwing a bouquet of flowers onto the ice.

However, he came up just short.

The 6-foot-3, 250-pound tight end, in Sochi as the honorary captain of the U.S. curling team, attempted a sweeping backhanded heave that appeared to hit the cameraman, though it's tough to confirm.

But hey, it's the thought that counts.
