Sochi roundup: T.J. Oshie has become so popular, some folks want to name the Olympics after him

• The American attempt to change up its speedskating luck by wearing the suits they wore during the World Cup did little to improve the team’s results. Brian Hansen finished seventh in the 1,500 meters and two-time silver medalist Shani Davis finished 11th. Seventh remains the best the Americans have finished through seven events. Unless something drastically changes, it’s looking more and more like the Americans might be kept off the podium in the event altogether.

• With gold medals in men’s large hill ski jumping and the men’s 1,500-meter speed skating, Poland won two gold medals in one day for the first time in its Olympic history. Zbigniew Bródka beat out the favorites to win the 1,500-meter speedskating, Poland’s first-ever gold medal in the event, and Kamil Stoch won his second downhill skiing gold of these Olympics.

• American hockey player T.J. Oshie has become an American sensation after scoring the game-winning shootout goal to give the United States a 3-2 win against Russia, so much so that some enterprising folks decided to adjust the Sochi Olympics logo in his honor.

• Once again snowboarders are concerned about their safety, this time on the eve of the women’s snowboarding cross event. Both women’s and men’s snowboarders (the men’s competition in Monday) are worried the ramps are too vertical, which will cause people to crash if they hit them going full speed.

"If you go full speed, you're going way too far and then you will crash 100 percent," said Austria's Markus Shairer. "I think the riders that are not so good are doing it because they see their chance to pass there, but everybody who has done snowboardcross one or two years knows that it's impossible."

While there have been petitions to have the course modified, the petitions were not unanimous, so no changes were made.

The U.S. women try to get the American speedskaters on the podium for the first time in these Olympics.

• Men’s 2-man bobsled, 11:15 a.m. ET
