No. 1 Star: Cam Talbot, New York Rangers

The Rangers goalie made 31 saves for a 2-0 shutout win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Talbot was at his best late in the game when the Flyers tested him, but maintained the lead.

No. 2 Star: Daniel Sedin, Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks winger set up three goals in their 5-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers: Two from Radim Vrbata and the game-winner from Yannick Weber, who went to the net hard to tip home a perfect Sedin feed.

No. 3 Star: Steve Mason, Philadelphia Flyers

While we don’t often give out stars for losing efforts, Mason was the best player in the game for the Flyers in their loss to the Rangers, making 32 saves, many of them stellar.

Honorable Mention: Rick Nash scored his 13th in the Rangers’ win. Kevin Klein had the other goal. …  Jannik Hansen scored a shorthanded goal for the Canucks, while Chris Higgins notched his fourth. … Steve Pinizzotto scored his first of the season for Edmonton and assisted on Boyd Gordon’s goal. … Ryan Miller improved to 4-0-0 against Edmonton this season and has won 11 straight against the Oilers in his career.

Did You Know? After it appeared he wouldn’t play at all in the morning, Claude Giroux of the Flyers skated a season-high 25:45 against the Rangers.

Dishonorable Mention: The Flyers were 0-for-4 on the power play. … The Canucks had a goal waved off after Ben Scrivens took a tumble with Alex Burrows in the crease. … David Perron had a goal waved off with 10.1 seconds left in the game for kicking the puck in. … Kevin Bieksa and Andrew Ference had a scrap after Bieksa got a little close to Scrivens.
