Evander Kane subject of sex offense investigation: Report
Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane is the subject of a sex offense investigation according to a report from the Buffalo News.
The News cites three police sources saying the incident occurred Sunday morning in a downtown hotel room near the First Niagara Center, where the Sabres play. Kane has not been charged with a crime.

“We have an investigation ongoing,” a Buffalo police source said. “We are not naming the suspect, and we do not expect it to be resolved in the very near future.” Another law enforcement source said the woman was having “memory issues.”
On Sunday afternoon, the Sabres released a statement on Kane via email.
"We take the allegation made today against Evander Kane very seriously. We are gathering facts and have been in touch with the NHL and Evander's representatives. Until we have more information we will not have any additional comment."
The NHL also said it was following the situation in Buffalo with Kane in a statement sent to Puck Daddy.
"We are aware of and are monitoring the investigation involving Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane. We have no further comment at this time."
According to the News, Evander Kane is being represented by Paul J. Cambria, who was Patrick Kane’s lawyer during a Buffalo-area rape investigation of the Blackhawks’ superstar last summer.
Evander Kane was not at Buffalo’s Sunday practice for a reported “personal reason.”
In regards to Kane’s past legal history, a Vancouver-area man sought financial damages from Kane for an alleged incident in the summer of 2013. Kane said he acted in self-defense. No charges were filed.
The winger was acquired last season by the Sabres after a tumultuous time with the Winnipeg Jets organization. The 24-year-old Kane has 13 points in 25 games played with the Sabres this season.
