Cory Schneider lets in another softy vs. Wild, but bounces back (Video)

There was some surprise when New Jersey Devils coach Pete DeBoer gave Cory Schneider his 15th straight start this season, continuing to be the only goalie to start all of his games. Some felt that fatigue had crept into his game, and fatigue can lead to mistakes.

Like, um, this one:

The Devils were up 2-0 in the third period when Schneider misplayed the puck in his own zone during a New Jersey power play. Ryan Carter, a former Devil whom the team opted not to bring back this season, intercepted the weak pass, turned and snapped a shot at the Devils net.

A shot that someone found its way through Schneider, which has been a reoccurring theme during his underwhelming start for New Jersey (6-6-2, .901 save percentage).

That said, he was pretty darn good otherwise for the Devils vs. the Wild, including a save later on a 2-0 break:

Schneider ended up making 23 saves, and proving DeBoer right with a bounce-back effort in a 3-1 win. The coach rolled with him, sensing he needed to get right back out after the loss to the Bruins. And Schneider came up big. Well, save for that one goal.
