Corey Perry knocked from game following Keith Ballard hip check (Video)

Keith Ballard’s famous hip check along the boards has struck again.

Midway through the first period of Friday night’s Ducks-Wild game, Ballard got a piece of Corey Perry, which resulted in an injured leg left for the Anaheim forward:

Perry missed the rest of the game with a lower body-injury. The Ducks say the injury is believed to not be serious and he'll travel with the team to Winnipeg this weekend.

Ballard has made a career out of delivering this kind of (clean) check. Just ask Jamie McGinn:

…or Adam Pardy:

…or Evgeni Malkin:

…or Jordin Tootoo:

…or Cody McLeod:

You get the point.

After years of delivering this type of hip check, Ballard has managed to keep it clean and not low-bridge anyone, avoiding any sort of supplemental discipline from the NHL.

And as is NHL tradition, Ballard was forced to drop the gloves on his next shift with Nate Thompson.
