Connor McDavid injures hand in fight, punching glass (Video)

OK, deeeep breaths Buffalo Sabres fans: Connor McDavid was injured on Tuesday night in a fight against the Mississauga Steelheads in the OHL.

The Erie Otters' wunderkind, and expected No. 1 pick in the NHL draft next summer, objected to a hit from center Bryson Cianfrone, engaging him away from the puck. Cianfrone dropped his gloves, McDavid dropped his, and the two fought behind the Steelheads’ net.

McDavid appeared to strike the glass with his right hand during the fight, skating away clutching it in his left hand. He went to the back with a trainer, and Victor Fernandes later reported that he had been taken to the hospital for X-Rays.

McDavid was given five for fighting and a game misconduct for removing his opponents’ helmet during the fight.
