AHL fight night between Bridgeport, Springfield: 244 penalty minutes (VIDEO)

The Springfield Falcons entered Friday night’s game against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers as one of three AHL teams without a game misconduct this season.

Now they have three, while the Tigers have a few more of their own, thanks to a series of brawls in the third period that contributed mightily to the teams’ combined 244 PIMs for the game. (The fun starts about 2:44 into the clip.)

Check out the rather lengthy box score here. Springfield won, 5-2, over Bridgeport.

From Masslive.com:

"I'm proud of our guys. They stepped up for each other all the way through," Falcons coach Brad Larsen said. "I don't expect anything else from that group. They're a very caring group in there; they play hard for each other."

… For their roles in a brawl early in the third period, Cody Bass and Dalton Smith received the Falcons' first game-misconduct penalties since April 1 at Worcester. Springfield had been one of three teams yet to receive a game misconduct. Falcons captain Ryan Craig got the boot for his role in the period's third incident. The Sound Tigers lost Matt Donovan, Mike Halmo and Nathan McIver for their involvement in the physicality.

In the third period alone, the Sound Tigers picked up 122 penalty minutes to 65 for the Falcons. "It kind of is what it is," Joudrey said. "The most important thing for us is guys stuck together."

And beat the crap out of the other guys. That too.
