USC ties NCAA record by scoring three punt return touchdowns against Cal (Video)

In a beatdown over Cal Saturday, USC tied an NCAA record by returning three punts for touchdowns, and most impressively, they all came in the first half. (Note: video only shows two of the three touchdowns)

The first score came just two minutes into the game, when return man Nelson Agholor got the Trojans on the scoreboard with a 75-yard return that showcased his impressive speed.

In the second quarter, the USC special teams struck again when fullback Soma Vainuku blocked a punt, and defensive back Josh Shaw scooped the ball up and scampered 14 yards for a score to increase the USC lead to 35-14.

Just under three minutes later Agholor struck again, this time on a 93-yard scamper in which he barely escaped the grasps of several Cal defenders on the way to the end zone.

This is the eighth time an FBS team has returned three punts for a score in the same game and the first time it has happened since Oklahoma accomplished the feat in 2003.

The Trojans went on to win 62-28 to improve to 7-3 on the year. Cal dropped to 1-9.
