USC RB Tre Madden undergoes knee surgery, will miss Holiday Bowl

USC running back Tre Madden underwent arthroscopic knee surgery last week and will miss the Holiday Bowl against Wisconsin.

Madden, a senior, has been dealing with knee issues throughout the second half of the season. He played in nine games this year carrying the ball 85 times for 452 yards and five touchdowns.

Madden’s USC career has been injury plagued. He missed all of last season with turf toe and the latter half of 2013 with a hamstring issue. Prior to that injury, Madden had 583 yards rushing and six touchdowns in the Trojans’ first five games.

Madden also missed all of the 2012 season with injury after making the transition from linebacker to running back. He took a redshirt that season, but should be eligible for a medical redshirt season if he wants it. With Madden’s limited role, Ronald Jones II and Justin Davis have been the highlights of the Trojans’ running game.
