Texas Tech WR Devin Lauderdale suspended for Texas Bowl

Texas Tech announced Thursday that wide receiver Devin Lauderdale is suspended for the team's Texas Bowl vs. LSU.

Lauderdale is the team's second-leading receiver behind Jakeem Grant. Lauderdale has 43 catches for 639 yards and four touchdowns.

His suspension, per a Texas Tech release, is "due to a failure to uphold Texas Tech Athletic Department Student-Athlete Expectations." Tech said he'd have the opportunity to return to the team for the 2016 season.

Lauderdale had three catches for 110 yards vs. TCU and 10 catches for 94 yards against Kansas State.

Tech also said that three players, linebacker Mike Mitchell, safety Jalen Barnes and safety Derrick Dixon were transferring.

Mitchell transferred to Texas Tech from Ohio State. He said he changed schools because of his father's health problems. His dad, former NFL linebacker Keith Mitchell, suffers from cluster headaches. He played in nine games in 2015 and had seven tackles. Mitchell, a native of Plano, Texas, was a five-star recruit in the class of 2013 and was the No. 1 recruit in the state of Texas per Rivals.

Barnes had three tackles in five games while Dixon had one tackle in three games.
