Suspended Georgia DB Josh Harvey-Clemons dismissed from team
Josh Harvey-Clemons won't be returning to the Georgia football team.
The team announced his dismissal in a short release on Wednesday. In January, Harvey-Clemons was suspended for the first three games of 2014.
It was a very brief and to the point statement.
"University of Georgia junior defensive back Josh Harvey-Clemons has been dismissed from the team for violation of team rules according to an announcement Tuesday from UGA head coach Mark Richt," the release said.
"Harvey-Clemons played in 25 games during his career including 11 starts."
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in January, Harvey-Clemons was suspended for a second violation of the school's marijuana-use policy. In February 2013 he admitted to smoking marijuana in his dorm room with Ty Flournoy-Smith. Harvey-Clemons was suspended for the season-opener against Clemons while Flournoy-Smith was dismissed from the team.
The suspension to start the 2014 season was actually a four-game one. Harvey-Clemons was suspended for the 2014 Gator Bowl against Nebraska.
When he was recruited out of high school, Harvey-Clemons was a five-star recruit and the No. 2 athlete in the class of 2012 according to Rivals.
Flournoy-Smith, a tight end, played the 2013 season at Georgia Military, a junior college, and signed with Alabama for the 2014 season.
