San Diego State CB Damontae Kazee heading to NFL
The Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year is heading to the NFL.
San Diego State cornerback Damontae Kazee is skipping his senior season and turning pro. The Aztecs concluded the 2015 season with a 42-7 rout of Cincinnati on New Year's Eve.
“Been playing this game for almost 16 years, it’s time for me to move up to the next level,
Kazee posted on Instagram. "I want to thank all my brothas on my team, the coaching staff, and all the advisors that had to put up with me but it’s time to live up to my dream and enter the 2016 NFL Draft. #AppreciateAllYouGuys"
Kazee, a junior, was fifth on the team in tackles with 75. He had eight interceptions and seven pass breakups along with 5.5 tackles for a loss. He also forced two fumbles.
He's the second high-profile cornerback to declare for the 2016 draft. Virginia Tech's Kendall Fuller, who missed most of the season because of a knee injury, has said he's heading to the NFL. Florida CB Vernon Hargreaves is also expected to leave early for the draft.
