Reports: Charges to be dropped against Ohio State’s Hyde, Florida’s Morrison
Two BCS contenders saw key starters arrested over the weekend, but it appears charges will be dropped against both Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde and Florida linebacker Antonio Morrison.
Hyde was named as a "person of interest" for assaulting a female at a Columbus bar, but a report by our own Charles Robinson says that a video from Sugar Bar 2 will likely clear the Buckeye. Ohio State suspended Hyde indefinitely pending the investigation, but if the video does clear him, it's a safe bet he will be fully reinstated.
Morrison, arrested for barking at a police dog, has seen those charges dropped, according to USA TODAY's Dan Wolken. Sheriff Sadie Darnell had previously said that her deputy probably should have given Morrison a warning, while State Attorney Bill Cervone told the Gainesville Sun that he wasn't sure there was enough evidence to constitute a crime.
Morrison was suspended two games for the arrest, as it was his second of the summer. Gators coach Will Muschamp has said that, as of now, that suspension still stands. The Gators play the Miami Hurricanes in game two, a contest Morrison would miss with the current punishment.
