Receiver Csont'e York dismissed from Michigan

Michigan has officially cut times with receiver Csont'e York, the school announced Monday evening.

York has been suspended while facing three assault charges — two counts of assault or assault and battery, and one count of aggravated assault — stemming from an incident outside an Ann Arbor bar on July 18. According to police, York punched a man and broke his jaw in three places.

"Csont’e York has been dismissed from the Michigan football program," Hoke said in a statement. "Representing the University of Michigan is a privilege and, while second chances are certainly deserved, sometimes it’s better for everyone if that happens somewhere else. Overall, I have been proud of how responsible our team has been this offseason and how hard they’ve worked to prepare for the season.”

On Aug. 12, police released surveillance video that shows York punching an unsuspecting man in the face. In addition to the victim having his jaw broken in three places, the punch also knocked out a tooth and forced the alleged victim to breath through a tube for a short time.

York fled the scene on foot and was eventually brought in by police.

York is scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 8.
